GRADS Project Program

The GRADS Project is a service of AIDS Community Resources. GRADS provides support, connection, and advocacy to men who have sex with other men (MSM) throughout a nine-county service area. We offer educational programs on HIV/AIDS and alternative opportunities to meet other MSMs.

The Café

The Café opened its door on September 9, 1999. Since then, we have been serving the greater MSM community in the Syracuse area. We invite you to stop by, meet new people in an alcohol-free environment. Have great conversations, learn, and laugh. Stop in for a cup of coffee and pastries. A good way to meet men away from the bar scene. Every Thursday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (except for holidays).

Counseling/Mental Health Services

Feeling troubled – a bit too overwhelmed? It happens. Talking it out with someone whose job it is to listen and offer alternatives is never a bad idea. Nowadays gay men are under increasing pressure, especially as everyone is publicly weighing in on ‘gay marriage’ – often with alarming hostility. It is just one more challenge that on a daily basis can work against efforts to build a solid self-esteem.

The GRADS Project contracts with Mental Health Counselors to offer short-term opportunities for you to ‘get it off your chest’ and move forward with tools for good emotional health. Give us a call. You don’t have to do it alone!

Support / Discussion Groups

The GRADS Project offers various support and discussion groups for men who have sex with other men (MSM): work, relationships, coming out, bi, married, threats to safety, etc.

If you are interested in a specific subject or looking to form a group in your area, call us. We are here to help you with MSM issues.

PREP

Peers Responding to Education Prevention

This program is targeted to college campus life.

GRADS offers college guys in our nine counties the opportunity to be involved in a Peer Leadership Program. Students will be oriented in ACR/GRADS HIV information. The goal is for guys on campus to become experts and then bring the message to others on campus. We provide information in helping them make healthier, safer choices. GRADS will also provide them with safer sex kits and materials.

We do the training.
