Transportation
Need a ride to the doctor? We’ll get you there. Don’t let circumstances stop you from getting where you need to be! STAR Transportation is offered by AIDS Community Resources for those living with HIV and who have no means of traveling to medical and related support services. This service is available to those who are ineligible for Medicaid and have no transportation to medical appointments or other HIV related services.STAR Transportation was created in 1998 with Ryan White Title II funds. The program serves 9 counties: Cayuga, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence.
In 2007, STAR Transportation supplied 1,258 rides for 114 clients needing medical transportation.
STAR Transportation has greatly improved access to care for hundreds of HIV+ residents living within the Central, Northern, and Mohawk Valley regions served by AIDS Community Resources. Historically, the lack of transportation has been a barrier keeping HIV+ persons from receiving services critical to their health and well being, especially for those living in rural regions of our service area.To arrange transportation:
All transportation must be made through your case manager. You must call at least 72 hours in advance to arrange a ride.
