Currently in Upstate New York more than 32,247 people have been diagnosed with AIDS. Many do not have the resources they need to survive. The First Frost AIDS Walk is a 5K walk/fun run committed to raising funds that provide direct care to families and individuals living with AIDS, and help support ACR's Adolescent Prevention Programs in area middle and high schools. ACR wants to make sure that people living with HIV/AIDS have the basic things they need (like food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education) to enable them to live out their lives with dignity.
The First Frost AIDS Walk has raised more than $145,000 in the past 8 years. It has become the most significant fundraiser for AIDS in Northern New York. The money raised to date has helped ensure the basic needs of people living with HIV/AIDS will be provided.
AIDS Community Resources will hold the 9th Annual First Frost AIDS Walk on Sunday, October 19, 2008 with a fundraising goal of $50,000. We expect in excess of 300 walkers, runners, and supporters for an event filled with fun.
On October 19 you'll be joining the hundreds of other participants who have come together to demonstrate the power that one person has in the fight against AIDS as you walk through the beautiful Thompson Park Zoo. Whether you're proudly wearing a tribute badge in honor of someone, or simply adding your voice to the fight, take the time to enjoy the wonderful food, lively music, and festive atmosphere of the biggest AIDS event in Northern New York.
After you've completed the 5K walk or run, stay for the Awards Ceremony as we congratulate the individuals and teams whose fundraising efforts will help give needed financial support to the Adolescent Prevention Programs and Client Support Services programs of AIDS Community Resources.
