GENERAL INFORMATION 

Q: WHERE/WHEN DOES AIDS WALK/RUN TAKE PLACE?
A:
AIDS Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, June 6, 2010.  The Walk/Run begins and ends at Beaver Lake Nature Center, 8477 E. Mud Lake Rd., Baldwinsville. Participants should follow the parking signs, and then proceed to the Main Building to register. Volunteers will be stationed to assist you.

Q: HOW LONG IS THE AIDS WALK/RUN?
A:
It is a 10 kilometer run (6.2 miles), and a 5 kilometer walk (3.1 miles) and takes roughly 1-1.5 hours for walkers to complete .

Q: SHOULD PARTICIPANTS USE THEIR HOME, CAMPUS, OR WORK ADDRESS TO REGISTER?
A:
All participants should register using their home address. If you must use your campus or office address, make sure you put your schoool box number or company name so you will receive mailings.

Q: IS THERE A MINIMUM AMOUNT I SHOULD RAISE?
A:
AIDS Walk/Run encourages all participants to raise a minimum of $25.  Additionally, fundraisiers are eligible for several Incentive Awards.

Q: WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
A:
The money raised by the AIDS Walk/Run supports the programs and services of AIDS Community Resources. 100% of all donations stay right in Central New York.

Q: TO WHOM SHOULD DONATION CHECKS BE MADE OUT TO?
A:
Please make checks payable to AIDS Community Resources or ACR.

Q: WHERE DO I MAIL DONATIONS?
A:
AIDS Walk/Run, AIDS Community Resources, 627 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204.  *PLEASE clearly include the name of whom you are sponsoring on the check or on a separate piece of paper.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I DO TO START RAISING FUNDS?
A:
A few simple suggestions to get started with your fundraising can be found below.  For more fundraising ideas contact the AIDS Walk Headquarters at (800) 475-2430 and visit our Fundraising Tips & Tools page.

Set up your Team or Individual Fundraising Web page,  Then send out an e-mail to friends, family members, and co-workers.  Each e-mail sent from your Web page contains a link to sponsor you online with a credit card.

Matching Gift Programs.  Many corporate organizations have corporate giving programs that match the contributions their employees give  to a charitable organization.  By utilizing the Matching Gift Programs of your employer or your family and friends' employers, you can quickly  double or triple your fundraising dollars.

Host a Fundraising Party.  Ask a local bar or restaurant to donate their space for a happy hour or fundraising dinner party.  Charge a flat admission or suggest a donation.  Plan a raffle, contest, or drink special to make the night exciting!

Awards, Premiums, and Incentives! Give your Team Members an incentive to sign up, raise money, and walk. Ask a vendor  or local  merchant to contribute to your team by providing an incentive prize or two. Award the Team Member who raises the most money for the AIDS Walk/Run.

Q: WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY OF AIDS WALK/RUN?
A:

8:30 a.m.  - Registration Opens.
10:00 a.m.  - Opening Ceremony Begins.
10:05 a.m.  - AIDS Walk/Run Begins!

Q: WHAT IS THE $500 CLUB?
A:
The $500 Club is made up of walkers/runners who set a goal of raising $500 or more for the AIDS Walk/Run.  Those who achieve their goal will receive additional incentive prizes and a crown to wear at the event.

Q: WHAT IS A TEAM?
A:
Teams are comprised of walkers/runners representing a variety of companies, schools, churches, or organizations. There are also many friends and family teams that participate, some of whom walk in memory of those they have lost.  Teams can range in size from two to more than 1,000 walkers.

Q: WHAT ARE A TEAM CAPTAIN'S RESPONSIBILITIES?
A:
A Team Captain's role is to recruit, inspire, and motivate people to register as well as raise funds.  In order to promote team participation, a Team Captain's first task is to distribute materials to all potential walkers as quickly as possible. After walkers/runners begin to register, following up is the key to fundraising success.

Q: HOW ELSE CAN I SUPPORT AIDS WALK/RUN?

There are many opportunities for your team to get involved in the AIDS Walk/Run, from becoming a Sponsor, to making an in kind donation, to Volunteering. If you would like to find out more about any or all of these options, please contact the AIDS Walk Headquarters at (800) 475-2430.

Q: HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE AIDS WALK/RUN ONLINE?
A:
Click on Register to Walk.  You will be guided through the registration process.  Once your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.  This e-mail will contain your username and password. Please use this to access your personal fundraising Web page.  Once logged in you can create your own fundraising page.

Q: HOW CAN I SEE WHO HAS DONATED TO ME?
A:
Go to the My Fundraising Page link on the site. Use the username and password that we e-mailed to you when you registered for the event. You can then view your donation report and the amounts that have been donated.

Q: WHAT DO I DO IF I HAVE A QUESTION THAT IS NOT ANSWERED HERE?
A:
